Salomon Xt-Whisper

The women's answer to the rugged XT silhouettes, returning after 15 years as a unisex model - Salomon XT-Whisper

While the XT-4 and XT-6 built on hard lines and aggressive zig-zag panels, there was also a quieter, gentler sister alongside them. Salomon XT-Whisper was created in response to the lack of offerings for women in the trail segment and has now returned in a reworked, unisex form after more than a decade. The shoe retains the technical heritage of the entire XT family but offers a softer, wavy aesthetic instead of sharp lines. The result is a silhouette that serves as a calmer alternative to its louder siblings.

History: from the women's version of XT-Hawk to unisex revival

The XT-Whisper was born in 2009 as a women's version of the trail shoe XT-Hawk, in response to the then-inadequate product offerings for women in the market. At the end of 2024, Salomon brought the shoe back in its original form and colorways, but this time as a unisex model. After fifteen years, the silhouette has been carefully reworked with respect to the original craftsmanship, shifting its style from masculine, hard lines to a softer, "whisper" aesthetic that appeals to a broader audience across genders without losing its running heritage.

Technology: agileCHASSIS, Quicklace, and Mud Contagrip

What makes the XT-Whisper comfortable despite its technical trail foundation are these elements:

• agileCHASSIS (ACS): A stabilizing structure working with the EnergyCell midsole, providing cushioning and support.
• Quicklace: A quick-lacing system that offers a secure fit from heel to toe without the need for traditional tying.
• Wavy SensiFit: A unique wavy application of the wrapping system around the foot – a visually softer version of the classic zig-zag SensiFit from the XT-4 and XT-6 models.
• OrthoLite® insole: A die-cut insole offering superior cushioning, breathability, and durability for all-day wear.
• Mud Contagrip® outsole: Deep, sharp lugs made from sticky rubber optimized for loose and uneven surfaces.

Design

The upper features wavy mesh and reflective material panels that create a softer impression than the rigid zig-zag lines on the sides of popular models like the XT-4 and XT-6. The shoe also offers a bit more flexibility in the forefoot, making it more comfortable for walking than its stiffer siblings.

Who this model is for

The XT-Whisper is a lifestyle silhouette for you if you're looking for a softer, more comfortable alternative to bold trail sneakers with real technical features – ideal for all-day wear and longer walks where you'll appreciate the more flexible forefoot.
