Air Jordan 1 Mid
A modern take on the legend that conquered the streets - Air Jordan 1 Mid
If you’re looking for the perfect balance between basketball heritage and everyday urban style, Air Jordan 1 Mid is your clear choice. This silhouette comes directly from the model that changed the game in 1985, offering a more accessible cut and an endless array of colorways. At Footshop, we see the “Mids” as the ideal entry point into the world of Jordan Brand – combining the iconic DNA of Michael Jordan with the modern comfort you need in the urban jungle.
The history of banned shoes and the evolution of the cut
It all started in 1984, when Peter Moore designed a black and red colorway for MJ that matched the Chicago Bulls uniforms. The NBA banned the shoes for not being white enough, and Michael paid a fine of $5000 for every game. While the original High version was strictly for the court, the Mid version emerged later in response to the demand for a lifestyle shoe. It features a slightly lower collar than the High version, giving you more freedom of movement at the ankle while still retaining that iconic edge we love.
A design that knows no color boundaries
Since its release, the Air Jordan 1 Mid has maintained its status as one of the most versatile silhouettes. This model showcases the boldest color combinations and material mixes. At Footshop, we select pieces that combine premium leather, suede, and synthetic panels. Each pair features the legendary Wings logo on the ankle and, of course, the encapsulated Air unit in the heel, cushioning every step on hard pavement. It’s a shoe that doesn’t lose popularity and comes with a new story every season.
Who defines style in the "Mids" and how to wear them?
Air Jordan 1 Mid is no longer just the “middle brother” of the original Highs. They’ve become a favorite of a new generation of sneakerheads, artists, and influencers around the globe. Their charm lies in their incredible versatility – they look great with baggy jeans, technical cargo pants, and even a clean minimalist fit. It’s a shoe for those who want to wear a piece of history but demand a modern approach to design. Invest in a legend at Footshop and choose the colorway that best defines your vibe.

In the history of sneakers, there is perhaps no more successful collaboration between a sneaker brand and an athlete than in the case of Michael Jordan and Nike. From the union of these two concepts came a legend in the form of Air Jordan in 1984. These sneakers were initially worn exclusively by the legendary thirty-three, however, within a few months of their introduction, Jordans were also in the hands of the public.
The legend in the form of the Air Jordan 1
The Air Jordan 1, which Michael first put on more than thirty years ago, is now one of the most popular silhouettes among sneakerheads. But the beginnings weren't exactly easy. In 1985, the most famous basketball player in history was banned from wearing Jordan 1 shoes because they didn't meet the prescribed game dress code, according to the NBA . To make matters worse, he would have to pay a $5,000 fine for every game he wore them.
This, of course, wouldn't be the seasoned Nike, which had a proper respect for its workhorse. Rather than risk the recall of this Jordan sneaker, it was decided that the company would rather cash in any such fine to Michael just so he could wear the J's as they were. The pinnacle of healthy audacity was an ad for just the Air Jordan 1 shoe called "banned." It featured, among other things, the legendary line, "The NBA threw them (Air Jordan 1) out of the game. Unfortunately the NBA can't stop YOU from wearing them".
New era, new Jordans
Time moved on, and as the years passed, so did more Jordan shoes. After the legendary 1s came the 2s, then the 3s, and by 2000 the number of new silhouettes had climbed to 15. Today, there are many more, and more models are still being added. However, even though these are far from being some worthless pieces, the glory of their first retro models is hardly matched by the new Jordan shoes aka Jordans .
Nike Jordan shoes have already entered their fourth decade of existence. Unlike a lot of other brands, Jordan sneakers have never strayed from their pre-marked path, that is to produce basketball sneakers for top athletes. But from the street basketball courts and gym floors, Air Jordan shoes have moved in a big way to the city streets as well. Among other things, the popularity among fashion and sneaker fans is also due to their popularity among the world's music stars, who do not hesitate to wear Jordan sneakers to concerts, fashion events and the most prestigious music awards.
